The S3 4+ crew of Chris, Martin, Russell and Jonathan coxed by Rosie did well to come second in their heat and so get through to the final. In the final they came in 5th, about 15 seconds behind the winning crew.
The crew thought that they rowed as well as they could, and to improve their performance they need to look to technique refinement rather than greater fitness.

The S2 4- crew, Ben, Graeme, Tim and Richard in their second regatta together again took their heat in fine style, convincingly beating a London crew who came in second.
In the final, with 500 metres to the finish, the same London crew were in the lead, ahead of Gloucester by 0.3 second. In spite of a great effort by our crew, London maintained their lead and crossed the line 0.6 second ahead of Gloucester who took second place.
This was no mean achievement for our crew when we hear that their time over the 2000 metres was better than many S1 4- crews. However our crew were very disappointed and annoyed at being beaten – to put it mildly. Which bodes well for the future, for it will spur them on to do even better.

John Squire and Mark Venn raced in the VETD 2- event. John said he just ran out of steam and his legs just went to jelly. They were a length and a half behind at the finish.

Aaron racing in S3 1X lost to Dart Totnes in the semi final.

We had a different WS4 8+ at Hereford. It consisted of Rosie, Lisa, Rachael, Alex, Steff, Karen, Zoe, Kim again coxed by Peter. But we had the same very good result. They won their semi final then went on to win the final too.

The WS4 8+ crew of Kim, Zoe, Deirdre, Karen, Amanda, Jeri, Lisa and Rachael coxed by Peter had a good first outing . Their first race was the final which they won.

Amanda and Jeri having their first race as a WS4 2X crew, had the misfortune to be pushed up a category to WS3 and lost their heat.

Deirdre in WVETD 1X lost in the final.

The NV 4+ crew of Steve, Mukund, Clive and Mark coxed by Peter, won their first race but lost the semi final.

Deirdre and Geri in WS4 2X won their semi final but lost the final.

Aaron racing in S3 1X lost to Leicester in the semi final.

The S2 4- crew of Russell, Jonathan, Martin and Chris had a bye in the semi final – they claimed that their mere presence scared off the opposition. The opponents in the final were made of sterner stuff – they beat our crew.

Martin and Geri in MxVETD 2X category won their race.

Our WS2 1X crew, Sarah, won her semi final but couldn’t manage a win in the final.

The mixed clubs crew of Mike Jones from Ross and our John Squire, lost by a canvas in the VETD 2- event

Russell and Jonathan in the S2 2- event won their first race but lost in the semi final.
