National Veteran Championships

We had crews in eight events at the championships which were held at the National Sports Centre in Nottingham. There were six lanes on the 500 metres course.
In VetD.4- we had our established crew of Jon Garner, Andy Jones, Martin Jones and Russell Thornton. Our four won their heat with a time of 3 mins 31.9 secs then improved their time in the final to 3 mins 28.3 secs to take second place. A great result for the crew.
Jon Garner paired with Russell Thornton and Andy Jones paired with Martin Jones to enter event VetD.2-. Martin and Andy were in heat 1 and obtained a time of 4 mins 1.0 secs to take third place and progress to the final. In heat 2 Jon and Russell returned a time of 3 mins 59.9 secs giving them second place and also making the final. In the final Jon and Russell improved their time to 3 mins 58.3 secs and came in fourth of the six boats. Andy and Martin had a time of 4 mins 0.2 secs and had sixth place.
Steve Lowe entered VetC.1x. His time of 4 mins 8.8 secs in his heat, did not qualify him for the final.
Steve also entered VetC.IM3.1x. His heat time of 4 mins 18.6 secs gave him third position and a place in the final. He was fifth of the six finalists with a time of 4 mins 23.3 secs.
Gerri Jones was in the straight final of W.VetD/E.1x. She took third place with a time of 5 mins 0.2 secs.
Gerri was in a double with Deirdre Squire in W.VetD.2x. They had second place in the straight final with a time of 4 mins 49.1 secs.
Gerri and Deirdre also entered W.VetD.IM3.2x. They finished second of the three entrants with a time of 4 mins 29 secs.
Russell Thornton raced in heat 1 of VetE.1x No time was given but he did not make the final .
