Evesham Regatta

The weather was fine for the Saturday events on the 1000 metres upstream course.
In the morning our IM3.4+ crew of Steve Lowe, Harry Denne, Lee Godsell and Jonathan Claridge coxed by Sue Berry lost to Monmouth School RC by four lengths.
The established crew of Rachael Britnell, Karen Longstaff, Zoe Mandeville and Kim Drinkwater coxed by Peter Hills in WIM3.4+ won their heat against Warwick Boat Club by half a length, but Llandaff RC beat them by three quarters of a length in the final.
Our NOV.4+ crew of Jonathan Claridge, Lee Godsell, Jonothan Phipps and Tim Cooper coxed by Sue Berry, were up against Bristol Ariel in their heat. Bristol easily got the better of our crew but they enjoyed the experience of their first regatta.
Steve Lowe racing in VETC.1x had a good day. In a straight final he beat a sculler from Staines BC by four lengths.
Laurissa Lowe and Kalan Mai Waite also had a successful day in event WIM2.2x. In their first heat they easily beat a double from Evesham. Then in their second heat they had stiffer opposition from Pengwern BC but still won by a length. They took the final comfortably, beating Staines BC by three lengths.

The Sunday course was a 500 metres sprint downstream.
India Parsons and Sam Staite entered in WJ13A.2x and did well to win their heat by two feet but did not manage to win the semi final. They raced well in this their first regatta and gained good experience.
R Green and Noah Serafin in J13A.2x were beaten by a Reading RC double in a straight final.
Gabriella Lowe had a close race in WJ12A.1x, losng out by a length to Ross RC in the final.
It was a good event for Steve Lowe racing in NOV.1x. He beat a Ross sculler by two lengths in his first heat, then he got the better of a Bristol Ariel sculler by one length in his second heat. However Steve lost to a better sculler from Evesham by three and a half lengths in the semi final.
Hannah Locke and Sarah Mashiter were entered in WJ14A.2x. A double from Ross got the better of them by a length.
Tim Nichols had a good race in J15A.1x. Tim was just a foot behind his opponent from Staines as they crossed the line.
Charlotte Allen, Alice Dibley, Bethanie Hamblett and Victoria Brown coxed by Jessica Sharples raced in event WJ15A.4x+. They were competing with a quad from Worcester RC who beat them by a length.
