Evesham Head - 29 November 2008

The club won the victor ludorum at the Evesham Senior Head following its successes at the Junior Head, eighteen crews were entered, eleven wins were recorded and 3 records fell to club crews.

Here is the view from the 2 seat of the S2 4-:

Having sat for an hour and a half at the front of the first division, the mens S2 4- started at half/three quarter pressure to warm up, rating 33. A stable platform and sharp blade work enabled the crew to lengthen out and lay down some beans. Rich Woods steered a beautiful course which included dodging the University of Birmingham coxless four who were reversing out of a bush. Rich put in a gently worded request for them to keep out of the way while a combination of extra beef from bowside and great steering got the boat through the S-bends at full speed.

They then caught and overtook the Worcester S3 quad and had their sights set on Bristol Ariel and, though closing fast, ran out of course before they could get to them. However, they won the event, set a new course record and were at least as quick to get their hands around coffee and stickies in the club house.
