The Gloucester Long Distance Head 2009 GRC is pleased to say that the head is on, however the race committee will be doing a final weather and safety check prior to Sunday and if for any reason the head is cancelled this will be posted on the website and communicated directly to clubs. Trailer parking for the Head will be at 'Protyre' which is located next to GRC club house on Bristol Road at Hempsted, Gloucester. Boating will be from Gloucester Rowing Club. There is not sufficient room for cars in the trailer park however there is plenty of free parking on adjacent streets. Please note we are not using the regatta field for boating this year. All crews should read the safety briefing provided on the website and a member of each crew (preferably the cox or steers person) should attend the safety briefing at the club house at 9.30am. Most crews should expect to take at least an hour to boat and row the 8k to the start, maybe more as the weather forecast shows a headwind going to the start. Please bear this in mind in your preparations for the race. The good news is that the finish is 500m from the clubhouse at the end. And finally, you will see from the draw that the entry to this year's race is not large but we have decided to go ahead anyway. The drawback of this is that a few crews will not have opposition will be rowing time only. If this is a problem for any crew please contact Jonathan Garner on 07973 371066 or jonathan@rockarch.net.
