Frequently asked questions for adult beginners. For juniors see junior beginners
We have had an overwhelming response to our Learn to Row courses which means that they have filled up before the course start date. However, we do run a number of afternoon taster sessions throughout the year so that you can come and see what it is like before starting a course. Or you might want to come along and have some fun.
To register interest in a Taster session (usually £20 for 1 1/2 hours) and/or a Learn to Row course (cost varies depending on type of course), please fill in this form.
When do the courses start?
The courses run during the spring and summer months. There are options for courses on Sunday afternoons, Monday evenings, and Wednesday mornings depending on uptake.
How much will it cost?
£90 for 6 sessions. The cost of bespoke courses vary depending on the needs of the learners. The cost includes membership of British Rowing as well as course materials
How do I pay?
You can bring cash or a cheque along to the first session.
Where does it take place?
At Gloucester Rowing Club, 326 Bristol Road, Gloucester, GL2 5DH.
Can I talk to someone?
Yes, please contact us via this contact form.
Is there parking near by?
There is limited parking opposite the boat club on Empire Way, Ashville Rd, and Caesar Rd.
What should I wear?
Warm clothing, layers rather than thickness, trainers and a wind/waterproof light top. Try to avoid loose fitting clothing as this can catch. All other equipment is provided.
I rather like the sound of this but I might prefer to steer rather than row
We're also on the look out for coxes, so if you don't think you are a Sporting Giant but would like to steer and direct the crew, why not also get in touch and let us know you're interested?
